I was born a Virgo but if you know me that's a lie! I am a Leo through and through. I am a thirty something mother of four little squirts that keep me busy and make me crazy! I have been married 10 years to my wonderful husband, James, (that's Dr. Thomas to you). I am shop-a-holic (WOW that felt good to finally say it outloud!) I love traveling, fashion, makeup, reading, Thai food, exercising, sewing and photography. This blog is here to prove the old adage: Modest is Hottest, and is filled with my latest musings... every bit as dippy and silly as I am.

Last night we had so much fun playing fear factor, it was a riot! Lately I have had a bee in my bonnet, I MUST get some black flat boots! I found some (and ordered them) at Anthro but am having second thoughts. So, I need your help... which boots do you like better?
#1
#2
I know I want flats (because I know I will wear them a lot!) I just am not sure the black in #2 is black enough. Should I just order both and then decide??? Should price play much of a role here?
I love the button detailing on the first boots, but the patent leather is awfully shiny and could be a bit much on a full knee boot. I'd really like to see those in person before I decided.
The Anthro ones are totally cute too (ruffle on a boot? Hello, brilliant!), but I imagine much pricier. If I liked the first ones in person, I'd keep those, but if I didn't I'd want to have tne Anthro ones in case they started running low in my size. Or if they have plenty in your size, order the first ones, save the Anthro shipping money unless you absolutely need to spend it, and then decide if you like the first ones.
I'm looking for flat black boots, too, because mine are falling apart, and my search so far has been fruitless! I really love the Anthropologie ones with the cute ruffle, but my friend bought them and had to return them because the calf part was just too large - they fit everywhere else, but she was just drowning in the calf section and it looked weird. I guess it just depends how they fit you. I think they are so cute that they are worth a try. I do think the second one is a bit shiny, but it depends what you want to wear with it. For a more casual look, I'd check out the ones at DSW - they have a pretty big selection and good prices.
I own #2, and they are much grayer in person. So if you wanted black, I would go for #1. I initially wanted #2 to be my black boot, was slightly disappointed they were more gray, but overall I love them, and use them as my Black boot. You can see them on me in a few shots on my blog, to gauge the color--squarepegforanthro.blogspot.com
I remember last year when I was looking for black boots, I ordered four pairs off websites with free shipping and sent back the three I didn't want. I would honestly just buy both and return the one you don't like....otherwise you will always be wondering about the other pair :) Personally, from the pictures I prefer the second, but like I said, I would want to see both in person before coming to a decision. I personally love #2, but think you could easily rock either! What outfits do you have in mind for the black boots - are you on Polyvore? YOu could always play around that way, too!
I voted for #2. Mostly because the first pair are a bit "too" victorian like for my taste. I think you may get over that style at some point. The little ruffley ones are ADORABLE!!! I love those. I totally see you wearing them.
I love your style and I should mention I recently purchased the Miz Mooz Solis after seeing how great they looked on you and how many outfits they would go with. I'm with everyone else on order both and return whichever you don't like or both for that matter. On another note since I too am on a hunt for gorgeous flat boots (though I need both a black and brown pair) I spotted some gorgeous ones on the LOFT website- haven't seen them in person but I may be placing an order soon though I wanted the camel color that's now sold out- they are the Perry D ring riding boots- thought they were darling with the metal hardware done the side.
I voted for the second pair -- those ruffles are just impossible to resist and they felt like "Tricia" shoes to me. Although the price difference is significant, if you're going to wear them frequently, the difference might even out over time.
I've tried the "order both" experiment on a few items...but I have to stop doing that, because I almost always end up keeping both!
I voted to order both. Here's why:

I like the style of both of them but when I saw the Anthro ones in person, they weren't black enough for me. The ruffle is so cute though!

ReplyDeleteHi Doll...I love #2...I voted for 2:)

If you really want a true black boot, then I say go for number 1, but of course I like number 2 better :)
