OOTD- beating the heat!

I would love to post the picture of me in my swimsuit because I will most likely be in that all afternoon, it's in the 90's and HOT!  My OOTD is hot with the cardi so here is the picture before I change!  We have been running around all morning and I am ready for "mommy time"!  Question: do you wear red, white and blue on the 4th?  I usually do but am wondering if it's a little juvenile (no I do not participate in wearing those horrible Old Navy flag tee-shirt tradition!)  Here is my OOTD...
Cardigan J-Crew: Jackie on sale!
Top Anthro Rose Tartan: similar here and here
Capri's ON SALE: Joe's Raw Hem Kicker
Necklace J-Crew: similar here on sale!
Ps- I should say my kids totally get decked out for the 4th... I am just wondering if you as an adult do?

  1. Confession time: I don't own a single article of clothing that involves red. I always try it on and then end up going with another color. I think red, white and blue can be cute and not juvenile for July 4th - depending how you do it!

And I love those shoes you are wearing today!

  3. Oh, I'm all over the Old Navy Flag tees - year round! Juuuuust kidding (although once they go on sale after the 4th they are great for DIY projects!). I LOVE wearing RW&B (it's probably my favorite color combo after red, yellow, and blue, so I definitely embrace it on the 4th (and Flag Day, Memorial Day, Pearl Harbor Day, etc). I think it's cute and fun and not at all juvenile (but I'm only 23, so....)

  4. I have been guilty of wearing an Old Navy shirt for the 4th. Not the Flag ones but the ones with dorky sayings. It's the only time I will wear a "holiday" shirt. I haven't the last couple years. I usually only wear one of the colors so I don't do some major overkill.

  6. Love the outfit...that Anthro shirt is the cutest! So I LOVE red, white and blue for the 4th...I would never personally wear those flag shirts, and I'm not a fan of my kids wearing them (although they did last summer because they saw them in the store and BEGGED me for them--I gave in) but I always wear the three colors on the 4th. I say go for it for sure! I am!

  7. I totally wear r/w/b for the 4th every year - I already have my outfits in mind for the weekend!

Cute outfit today, and I hope you got some time to relax this afternoon!

  9. Love the outfit! I know what you mean about the heat. I don't want to get dressed at all. I'm definitely wearing some red, white, and blue. I love this holiday and I usually go all out. My bought my kids cute outfits months ago. I'm still deciding on what to wear myself.

  10. Reuben- why do you care what a girl is wearing at all? Just sayin'! It actually is chilly here in the morning (I live in the mountains at the mouth of a canyon!)

  11. You look great!

I love RWB, but I never really wear it. It looks adorable on kids of all ages:)

  12. I love that shirt and it looks great with the color of that cardigan. To answer your question, I don't usually wear red, white & blue on the 4th (because I forget) but maybe I will this year just for fun. We'll be visiting my mother-in-law so that means I'll have to actually remember to pack something in those colors to wear. :-)

  14. Heck yes I wear red, white and blue on the 4th! I'm personally a big fan of Target's holiday tees, I have some for St. Patty's, Valentines, Halloween and Christmas!
Definitely not too juvenile, it's a holiday, with celebrating and lighting things on fire, you might as well join in the fun with your festive clothes!
Love those shoes. Bought them in red, they're half a size too small, dangit!

  15. This outfit is so cute! I love those flats.

I haven't decided what to wear for the 4th yet. I was going to wear the orange reed (since it looks sort of fire engine red to me) but it might be too hot to deal with sleeves that length.

  16. That bright seaside color from J.Crew has definitely been one of my favorites from them this year! I have a cardi in that color that I wear alll the time. And you look so pretty in it; the color compliments the Rose Tartan top so well :)

I usually feel a little too cheesy wearing red white and blue together, but I usually at least opt for a little red :)

  17. You look adorable! I love that shade of blue on you.

As far as dressing patriotically, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. This year I think I will, but in a less obvious way rather than blatantly wearing stars and stripes. Which I'm pretty sure I have done before. Just not this year. :)
