OOTD- What's a Turducken?

My family loves to joke about things so the other day we got on the subject of Turduckens... I have never tried one, so I want to know has anyone ever had one?  Do they taste good?  Do you make them yourself or buy them?  Now for the good new my bag finally hit sale, so I scooped it up immediately and this dress (because I had to qualify for free shipping, I am hoping it's not too short on me!)  Here is what I am wearing whilst trying to figure out who invented a Turducken...
Jacket Anthro (2008): similar here
Top Anthro: Eze Sur Mer
Pants Anthro: Pilcor cords
Boots Anthro: Pebbled and Primped

  1. I think I remember reading something about it being a Cajun thing, but I could be wrong. Love the jacket and the simplicity of this look.

  2. A Turducken is a Turkey Stuffed with a Duck and then the duck is stuffed with a chicken. Then the middle of it is usually stuffed with a nice yummy stuffing.

They are all deboned and layered and then stuffed in there. They are quite tasty!

They are pretty heavy, though, and a little goes a long way. They are actually popular in Louisiana and also in the south. Paula Deen did an episode of her show where she made one-

hope that helps! :) there is a place down here that ships them all over the country. If you want the name of it, email me and I can give it to you! :)

  4. oh man, turdukhens!

I've never had one, but I have seen them in catalogs and in stores, and just the other day on a cooking show on PBS they were making one!

I don't like duck so I don't think I would like it, plus the idea of all of those foods mixed together really freaks me out!

  5. I am from and live in Louisiana and they are very popular here! I have never heard of anyone making one themselves - seems like it would be a lot of work! :) I've had it a few times and really liked it - it's turkey, duck, and chicken. Very tasty. I was just explaining this the other day to a friend who moved here from Indiana and had never heard of it. :)

  6. We had one once, and it was totally nasty! However, my fiance is from Louisiana, and he's had several that he claims were awesome! I think we just got a bad one, or my dad didn't know how to prepare it ... I'd definitely try it again since Luke says it really is good! You can make them if you're really savvy, but most people just buy them, I believe. :P

One year we deep fried our turkety. that was about as adventurous as we get in these parts :)

  16. I'm afraid I've never had a turducken, but it's on my imaginary bucket list.

I can't wait to hear how the Snowy Egret Shift works out for you. I have a feeling it's going to be a keeper! And the leather on that bag looks divine!

  17. The question is not WHO invented the Turducken, but rather, WHY. :)

Those boots are beyond awesome. I am SO jealous. You look amazing!

  18. It's so funny that you asked about a Turducken. Hubby and I made one for the first time this Thanksgiving. It was delish... especially if you aren't really a turkey fan. There's other meat to choose from. All our guests loved it!
